Emergency Paediatric First Aid Course (6hr)

This course is comprehensive, interactive and fun. The course focuses on emergency scenarios that are faced by nannies, childminders, nanny/housekeepers and people who work with young children.

This course meets the First Aid requirements of OFSTED for the voluntary register.

Nannies, Nanny/Housekeepers, Mother’s Helps.

Trainers:

Hazel

Hazel Cokeley is an experienced First Aid Instructor and Assessor, Safeguarding Child Protection trainer and BTEC diploma tutor. She also holds a Professional Certificate in Education and certificates in adult learner support, counselling and food hygiene. She ensures that all trainees leave the course with a thorough understanding of the skills essential to support children who are unwell and/or have long-lasting medical conditions. By the end of the course, students will have gained a practical knowledge of how they should apply those skills in real-life situations.

Luke 2

Luke Cheshire has previously worked for the Police Service. He later moved into teaching and he now teaches Maths in secondary school, as well as teaching First aid. He has achieved a PGCE at Greenwich University, First aid Instructor in First Aid at Work, Emergency First Aid and Paediatrics First Aid.

Anna Howard-Price

Anna Howard-Price has been a Registered Nurse and a Registered Sick Children’s Nurse for over 20 years. She also holds a master’s degree in Interprofessional Practice. Anna has a wealth of experience in teaching and holds the Teaching and Assessing in Clinical Practice qualification (ENB 998) and is a Certified Adult & Paediatric First Aid Instructor. In addition to training, Anna specialises in school nursing and children with special needs.

Level 3 Blended Paediatric First Aid Course (12hr)

Overview

Our First Aid 12 hour Paediatric course is 6 hours in the classroom and 6 hours via e-learing. The classroom session is taught in a very hands-on manner which makes it particularly suitable for people for whom English is not their first language. Our course will equip you with the skills to be able to recognise and respond to a first aid emergency safely and efficiently.

Who is it for?

This course is designed for professional childcarers that work as nursery practitioners, childminders, crèche workers, playscheme staff or those working in a daycare setting. It is an accredited course that provides certified training to meet OFSTED requirements and also meets the requirements for Paediatric First Aid outlined in the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) 2014.

Course Content

The classroom based content is as above for the 6 hour paediatric course. The e-learning content covers the following, for children and babies:

-Understanding the role and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider (including the appropriate contents of a first aid box and the need for recording incidents and accidents)
-Poisonous Substances
-Bites and Stings
-Foreign body in Ear, Nose and Eye’s
-Electric Shock
-Effects of extreme heat or cold
-Emergencies; asthma attack, diabetic emergency, an allergic reaction, meningitis and/or febrile convulsions

Course Timing

The course starts with 1 day in the classroom, which will take place on the dates below, running from 9:45am-3:45pm. ID required, please bring this with you when attending.

Following attendance of the classroom session the 2nd half of the course will be emailed to learners for completion.
